having compared friends who have had similar full knee operations with my op, I find that I did not experience the pain or the length of recovery that they had, so I must assume that Mr Simon Pearce was excellent in his surgery. I would not be so presumptious to suggest improvements.

I am 6 weeks post operation for a total hip replacement having already had the other hip replaced three months earlier. Both operations were carried out on time, the whole process being very efficient. I have had no post operative problems and can now walk normally with no pain. Simon Pearce was very caring, easy to talk to and could be relied on to attend to check on post operation progress when he said he would. I cannot fault the care taken.

Everything was explained clearly and succinctly. From the procedure itself to the aftercare and recuperation. Every step of the way was mapped out. I can't fault anything.

I had a hip replacement in March and a knee replacement in August this year, both performed by Mr Pearce and his team at The Spire. I can't praise Mr Pearce enough for his care and attention, before and after both operations. During each meeting / consultation, he made me feel relaxed and confident, explained everything clearly and answered all my questions. Both Mel the Physiotherapist and Mr Pearce did pre warn me that the hip replacement was a 'walk in the park' compared to the knee surgery and I'm glad they did, as I felt more prepared for the pain following the knee operation. As this was my first experience of hip and knee replacements, I personally would have found it even more reassuring to have had some idea of the recovery milestones 'post op'. Although I appreciate we all experience different timescales regarding healing, I did find it a bit frustrating not knowing whether I was doing too much exercise, or not enough, during the first 6 weeks after surgery, as there was nothing I could assess myself against. I want this feedback to be received as constructive criticism and not negative comments, as Mel and her team of physios were excellent and without their support, I would not have made such a good recovery.
